Unique pieces by PHILIP KLAR
Born in 1976 in Hamburg, Philip Klar spent his childhood growing up by the
river Elbe and his adolescence living close to the Baltic Sea.
From a very early age he surrounded himself with the materials that form the
building blocks of his work today : wood, horn and steel.
His resulting passion to create and shape deepened and intensified during a
crafts-based apprenticeship and a degree in design.
Strongly influenced by interdisciplinary art and design movements such as
Bauhaus and Arts and Crafts, purity and a profound respect for the raw materials
imbue his captivating designs.
His intuitive approach allows him to expose and emphasize the nature and
structure of the raw materials.
Timeless but always contemporary, his unique pieces transcend seasons and
trends.
His designs compel through the elegant fusion of archaic and modern lines. His
style is characterised by reduced aesthetics and an absence of decorative
frills, effortlessly passing the boundaries between design and craftsmanship and
between art and technology.
The Horn Collection exemplifies Philip Klar’s artistic principles with rings
offering durability and longevity while remaining affordable.
In his current NewEdge collection, Philip Klar combines horn from water buffalo
with precious metals.
The colour variation of the natural materials ensures that each piece retains
its unique character.
